Vocational Trip to Bendigo

On Sunday, twelve Rotarians and friends— Samantha, Greg, Ruth, Mathew, Ken, IJ, Ron, Ian, Chris, Tony W, Paulette and Jane — set off by bus for a wonderful day of fellowship and discovery in Bendigo, with Greg kindly taking the wheel.

The first stop was the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, an impressive and peaceful landmark set in the beautiful Bendigo region. As the largest Buddhist stupa in Australia, it offered a fascinating insight into Buddhist traditions, its history, and the inspiring vision behind this remarkable project.

After the visit, the group enjoyed lunch at the Tram Café before joining the Vintage Talking Tram Tour. The tour was both entertaining and informative, bringing Bendigo’s rich history and heritage to life.

A warm thank you goes to Samantha for organising such an enjoyable outing, and to Greg for driving everyone safely throughout the day.

It was a lovely day shared in good company, with plenty of learning, conversation and memorable moments along the way. For anyone looking for an interesting and peaceful place to visit, Bendigo is well worth the trip, with the Great Stupa a special highlight for visitors of all ages.
